On the shelves of drug and department stores, you see a vast and confusing array of face lotions and creams, all making fantastic claims about their anti-aging effects. In our experience, they fall short of delivering the promised results.

For this reason, Dr. Cirelli partnered with OBAGI Medical, to provide prescription grade skin care products and procedures for skin that Looks and Acts younger and healthier.

The Obagi Nu-Derm System is a physician prescribed skin care system that actually accelerates the cellular turnover. This system is more effective than skin care products found at cosmetic counters, spas or beauty supply stores. The Obagi System boosts functions of the skin at the cellular level triggering a series of effects that:

1. Push fresh cells to the surface faster for smoother skin, reducing wrinkles and increasing resilience
2. Reduce mottled pigmentation and help prevent new freckles and age spots.
3. Promote more uniform cells for better skin structure and balanced, more even skin tone

The Obagi Blue Peel® System: - Performed by a Registered Nurse
To accelerate your skin's transformation, consider the Obagi Blue Peel® System. This peel puts control of your treatment in professional hands. Based on your skin's conditions and your individual needs, your skin professional determines the strength of the peel. The procedure takes less than an hour and is conducted in our Physician Office. There is a 7 to 10 day recovery period, after which you will notice a visible improvement in your complexion. The Obagi Blue Peel is used in conjunction with the Obagi Nu-Derm System to optimize and accelerate radiant results.

(This procedure can only be performed by a Physician or a properly trained specialist working under a Physician's supervision.)

Fractional Skin Resurfacing - Performed by a Registered Nurse
We use the Palomar Lux 1540™ - a non-ablative skin resurfacing treatment that delivers high precision laser microbeams to the skin. A restorative, natural healing process is then initiated, accelerating the formation of healthy new tissue. The advantages include:

1. A skin resurfacing option with little to no downtime - patients can typically return to their daily activities with minimal redness or discomfort.
2. The stratum corneum remains in place, eliminating wound healing issues and allowing for rapid healing.
3. Fractional columns prevent unnecessary heat accumulation for less discomfort during treatment.

Most areas of the body can be treated including the face, chest, arms, and hands. Most people notice positive changes and skin tone and texture within a few days. A series of treatments at 3-6 week intervals may be needed to achieve the desired results. We will consult with you to determine your goals and individualize your treatment regime.

Photofacials - Performed by a Registered Nurse
Our Palomar photo rejuvenation process uses the optimal wavelength of light to clear vascular and pigmented lesions. The advantages include:

1. Photorejuvenation is effective on the face, arms, chest, and other large body areas, with no patient downtime.
2. This process can remove damage caused by years of sun exposure and minimize the effects of aging.

A photofacial can clear wide areas of pigmentation on the face, chest, and arms caused by sun damage; individual pigmented lesions, also known as age spots; rosacea (general inflammation of the cheeks and face; and spider veins.

Immediately after treatment, there may be a mild sunburn-like sensation, possibly with mild swelling, lasting 2 - 24 hours and can be soothed with cold gel or ice packs. Typically, several treatments will be necessary to achieve complete clearance of sunspots, rosacea, and spider veins.

Dermal Fillers - Performed by Dr. Cirelli
We use RADIESSE®; an FDA approved dermal filler that restores a natural, long lasting youthful look. This treatment can restore facial volume as well as correct smile lines, nasolabial folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth.

RADIESSE® is injected into the skin through a simple, safe convenient procedure, typically with the use of a local anesthetic. There is little to no downtime. Mild irritation and swelling may occur at the injection site and typically resolve on their own.

The results are immediate and may last a year or more in many patients. RADIESSE® is a next generation dermal filler that not only fills but volumizes and works with your body to stimulate new collagen and deliver a natural look that lasts.

Botox™ - Performed by Dr. Cirelli
Since its FDA approval in 2002, BOTOX™ injections have become the single most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure in the United States. It is a quick and virtually painless procedure that dramatically decreases frown lines, forehead furrows, crow's feet and more. Individual results vary.

The improved appearance is visible within a few days and lasts for up to four months. To ensure the proper dosage and maximum benefits, Dr. Cirelli, Board Certified Dermatologist administers the injections himself.

Juvéderm™ - Performed by Dr. Cirelli
JUVEDÉRM™ is a smooth injectable gel made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in our bodies. The role of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin and act as a cushioning agent.

Dr. Cirelli, Board Certified Dermatologist, gently eases Juvedérm™ gel under the skin to instantly restore volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your "smile lines" or "parentheses" (nasolabial folds-the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth).

Talk with Dr. Cirelli to decide if this treatment is right for you. He will discuss your medical history to determine if you are an appropriate candidate. JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus injectable gel should not be used in patients who have severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis or history or presence of multiple severe allergies or patients with a history of allergies to gram-positive bacterial proteins.

Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short (7 days or less). The most common side effects include but are not limited to temporary injection site reactions such as: redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a small risk of infection.

Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing. Juvedérm™ is the only hyaluronic acid (HA) filler FDA approved to last up to one year.

Levulan® Photodynamic Treatment for Acne and Aging Skin - Performed by Dr. Cirelli

Dr. Cirelli is excited about the promise of Levulan® Photodynamic treatment for acne. Research has demonstrated that the application of the photosensitizer (Levulan®) followed by illumination with a high-intensity light destroys the bacteria that causes acne as well as shrinks the over-active sebaceous glands that predispose some people to develop acne. Studies show that weekly treatments result in remarkable improvement in the severity of this troublesome condition. This new modality shows great promise in producing long term remission and clearance of unsightly acne.

There are no serious side effects, although patients do experience a sunburn-like redness, some transient itching and fine crusting after treatment. If unsightly acne is troubling you, talk to Dr. Cirelli to see if this treatment is appropriate.

In a pilot study, patients with sun-damaged skin were treated with Levulan® Photodynamic Treatment. All patients noted the appearance of reduced pore size and an improvement in pigment abnormalities and textural quality. While more clinical trials are currently underway, it appears likely that Levulan® can reverse the damaging effects of excessive sunlight on skin. Photodynamic therapy has also been effective in the treatment of actinic keratoses (pre-cancerous spots), warts and several other skin conditions. Dr. Cirelli will be happy to discuss all the possible benefits of this advanced modality for your skin's health and beauty.

Sclerotherapy - Performed by Dr. Cirelli

Sclerotherapy is a treatment that improves the appearance of spider veins with minimal pain. The procedure is fairly simple and requires no anesthetic. It takes between 15 minutes to an hour or more, depending on the number and size of the spider veins being treated. (Spider veins and varicose veins are often confused with one another. Varicose veins are larger, darker and tend to bulge at the skin's surface.)

Hair Removal

We use Palomar Pulsed Light Systems offering a lasting solution for unwanted hair. Advantages include:

1. Permanent: Concentrated pulses of light loosen the hair and disable the cells responsible for new hair growth.
2. Fast: Small areas, such as the underarms or upper lip, can be treated in 10 minutes or less, and even large areas, like the back or legs, can be treated in under a half hour.
3. Comfortable: Various cooling methods keep skin safe and comfortable, unlike electrolysis or waxing.
4. Convenient: Unlike waxing, there is no need to let hair grow out between treatments. You can remain hair free all the time.

Typically, several treatments will be necessary to achieve permanent hair reduction.
